SVS Application Best Practices

If you've virtualized an application or are just looking for directions, here's where we keep the details! The following applications have been successfully virtualized with Altiris SVS. Where available, tips are provided. Some of this info comes from the SVS development and test team and some comes from Altiris employees, partners and customers who have participated in the beta.
This page is only for applications that work. For applications that are known not to work with SVS go here: SVS Broken Applications.
A few guidelines:
- Please only add an application if you have actually used it successfully, either in production or in a simulated production (prototype) environment. (In your details, it would be great if you could add some indication of how extensively the app has been used.)
- Red hyperlinks indicate products that someone has reported success with, but need to be documented.
- If you've virtualized an application that's not on this list, add it by clicking the edit link in the tab above.
- Please list only the main application name on this page, with version(s) and other details on the linked-to page. In the details, please specify which Windows version(s) the package was successfully deployed on.
- Some of these are not officially supported by Altiris. Remember, server apps and anything that uses a system driver are not officially supported in SVS 2.0 (but will be in the next release!), tho many such products do actually work fine now. Where this is the case, the wiki moderators will add an "unsupported" note below.
- When possible, please include the following information:
- Application Name - Application Vendor - Application Version - What OS was the VSA capture performed on - Import from VSA tested to work on different machine (Y/N) - List of OS versions VSA was tested on - Capture hints - Suggested/Optional package edits - Things to watch for
