Eclipse

From Altiris Wiki

Version(s): Eclispe 3.1.1

Capture Method: There is no install routine to install Eclipse. It is a standalone application that just comes compressed in a zip file. Eclipse is still easy to install. Create an empty layer and edit it. Unzip Eclipse and drag the directory where you unzipped Eclipse to the layer in the advanced layer editor.

You need the Java SDK to use Eclipse. The Java SDK may also be in a Virtual Software Package.

It may be nice on a reset to have the features\plugging stick. You can do this by moving them from the Writeable sub layer to the Read-only sub layer.

Also, all files created with Eclipse are actually created by the Java Runtime. If Java is in a VSP all the .java .class files will be in the Java package. It is Highly recommended that you create a data layer for Eclipse to help manage data. If you reset the Java layer you will loose all your Eclipse work.

DLC is not a good tool for this application. Java only registers .jnlp and .jar files. You will need to manually add these extensions: .java .lock .classpath .class .project

or you may create a data layer with an include for the directory where your workspace is.
